Nominations Requested for the Next Generation Sequencing Group Committee
The UK Environmental Mutagen Society (UKEMS) established the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Special Interest Group (SIG) with a remit to maintain awareness and evaluate promising applications, challenges and key data initiatives needed to enable regulatory testing and adoption of NGS; including (but not limited to) the advancement safety assessment, augment weight-of-evidence for mutagenicity and carcinogenicity mechanisms and identify early biomarkers of cancer risk and managing human and environmental health risks from chemical exposures.
The current NGS SIG Committee was formed by members of the 2022 NGS Workshop Organising Committee to ensure the initial running and plans for the SIG and establish the constitution. However, the Committee would like to ensure that the SIG is run democratically and will, therefore, be holding elections for the following committee positions in 2024:
- Chairperson
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- 4 x Ordinary Members (including 1 x Early Career Scientist)
This is a fantastic opportunity to get actively involved and shape the future plans of this SIG in this exciting and emerging field, with the support of UKEMS. Please consider nominating a colleague (please consult with the nominee) or yourself for one of these positions.
As this is a newly established SIG and to maintain a broad membership, the Committee will accept nominations from anyone interested in the field of next generation sequencing. However, any elected Committee Members will be expected to join the UKEMS prior to taking up a position on the NGS SIG Committee.
Please complete the following form with your name or the name of your nominee, email address, committee position applying for and brief bio for the relevant committee position, by Friday 31st May:
